Bristol-Paris seat shortage to ease

Flights from Bristol were a casualty of BA Connect's recent merger with Flybe. The latter scrapped BA Connect's services from this West Country airport. It meant the number of flights on the key link to Paris CDG was cut from six to just one a day.
Last year a number of readers complained to Business Traveller about the high fares charged by BA Connect for its Bristol-Paris CDG service but the situation now is much worse. For the past few weeks Easyjet has been left with a monopoly on the Paris CDG route which has inevitably led to higher prices. Last Tuesday, when Business Traveller checked the cost of a return Easyjet flight travelling today and returning tomorrow, the cheapest fare quoted was £269. Neither are the timings especially convenient. Easyjet departs Bristol at 1400 arriving in CDG at 1620. The return flight is at 1650 to reach Bristol at 1710 making a day trip out of the question.
Now Easyjet says it will meet increased demand by adding a second daily flight on weekdays from May 8. This will depart at 0730 to reach CDG at 0950 with a return at 1030 to arrive in Bristol at 1045. It means that day trips to the French capital are now possible once again.
